Characteristics:
Ground color of greenish-yellow to tan. Olive dorsal stripe varies from well-defined to weakly defined or interrupted anteriorly. Some or all upper labial scales may fail to reach the eye. Top of head olive-brown. Belly white or very pale orangish-white. Scales smooth and in 17 rows. Oviparous. Hatchlings are similar to adults. They are fast, alert, and agile lizard hunters that often periscope in an effort to see their prey.

Habitat and Diet:
This pretty snake inhabits desert regions and dry, rocky, riverine flood plains. Prey is primarily lizards.
